Wow I'm terrible at this!

So, I seem to be dreadful at keeping up with posts, but I'm going to try to start blogging my modelling work again. Model painting that is, not lookin sexy, I'm only qualified for one of those two things. So I've definitely done a tonne of painting since... August? Oh dear. Unfortunately I don't have good photos of any of it handy, or really any photos of most of it.

Sorry D. cellphone photos are going to be forthcoming once more!

So I mostly finished an Orc Big Boss that one of my friends gave me a few years ago, he is not likely to get any more done than this. The blood on his axe was my first try at using the new Citadel effect paint Blood for the Blood God. Next time I'll read the tutorial BEFORE I try to use the new paint. Blah. Still, I LOVE the way his skin tone, and especially his face, came out.

Next up is a built, but not painted, Legion Praetor from Forgeworld's Horus Heresy lineup. This guy is goddamned beautiful as he comes, but I hate his Volkite weapon. So instead I gave him a Combi Plasma and a Power Axe from the Tartaros Terminator Weapons set, and Severin Loth's Honour Guard respectively. He's been primed since, but I don't have a photo. I'm also not especially sure which of the Legiones Astartes he will eventually belong to. Anyway this photo is awful, but here it is.
Lastly I spent some time playing Battletech: Alpha Strike lately. I think it is a fabulous way to play Battletech, allowing people with ridiculous schedules (like me!) to manage more than one game per night/week/year. So, without further ado!

Space Wolves in Tan (Played by Myself) v.s. Diamond Sharks in Blue (Played by my friend MattPrime) (Models and Terrain graciously provided by a Viking comrade of mine who goes by the handle Vinlander!) I got spanked, but we also didn't quite get the rules! :D
Then Vinlander broke out his Golden Century Space Wolves and kicked my similarly themed Nova Cats right in the teeth, taking most of my star as bondsmen in the process. Vengeance will be ours!

My Griffin IIC from the point of view of the Wolve's Lupus:

Having survived their ministrations he proceeds to attempt to destroy the weak rear armour of the Wolf Corvus:

Meanwhile, Mechwarrior Bryce manoeuvres his Coyotl A to provide support against the nearby Lupus.

Star Commander Huron engages a Wolf piloting an identical Shadowhawk IIC and they destroy each other simultaneously.
Having faced a bitter defeat in battle to the wolves, my star (having recruited fresh warriors from the Nova Cat sibkos) my warriors then engaged a force of Blood Spirit garrison warriors, in an effort to blood them. Fortunately this battle wen't more to plan.
Whelp, thats everything I've done lately!

Space Elfs? Space Elfs.

So, who likes space elves? I know I do. These are the last set of photos from my shoot with my good photographer, so after this its back to my own terrible work! I mostly used a mix of layering using glaze medium as an extra thinner on these guys. Also quite a bit of edge highlighting and some wet-on-wet blending. Pretty awesome results anyway :D

Easily my favourite unit in the army so far.

MERCS House 9

I actually finished these guys a couple of months ago, but when I had my good photographer kidnapped I managed to get her to do up a few photos of them!

Skorne no more!

So my poor readers no longer need to worry that my Skorne commission is going to delay my blog posts infinitely. Don't worry though, I'm pretty sure I can find some other terrible reason to be lazy and unproductive!

So, without further rambling, the last chapter in me painting Skorne:

Aptimus Marketh!

And the whole pile of villainous wretches preparing to bring their oppressive rule to the peoples of Western Immoren:

A longer wait.

Sorry everyone, I haven't managed to post a whole lot of late, chiefly because I haven't felt interested in taking photos of my ongoing layering/highlighting of my Skorne commission. On the up side I am now finished all but one of the 21 miniatures which comprised  the commission and so I hit up a friend of mine who excels at photography to help me document the wee wretches.

First up Skorne Nihilators; a squad leader and one of each pose of mook:

Followed by the same arrangement of slingers!

And finally a work in progress of the final fellow:

Scorning the Skorne

Well, the commission progresses a pace, although it doesn't make for particularly brilliant photos since batch painting 20 models doesn't precisely create the visual masterpiece right off. That said I am making progress and I lined em up behind one-another to give a clue to how many of these little blighters there are.

Skorne Slingers:
 Skorne Slinger Leader:
Close up of a work in progress slinger:
The Nihilator leader is in better shape:
And just for fun a couple of things that will eventually become armies in their own right!
Eldar Void Dragon Corsair Hemlock Escort: (base work is done!)
ATuareg themed Haradrim from GW's LotR range. Super happy with this guy.
Back to Skorne I go!
